1. What Are the Planets in Vedic Astrology?
Vedic astrology recognizes 9 main planets (Navagraha):
Sun (Surya) – Soul, ego, leadership, vitality
Moon (Chandra) – Mind, emotions, mother, habits
Mars (Mangala) – Energy, courage, aggression, ambition
Mercury (Budha) – Intellect, communication, logic
Jupiter (Guru) – Wisdom, expansion, children, spirituality
Venus (Shukra) – Love, beauty, creativity, wealth
Saturn (Shani) – Karma, discipline, delay, transformation
Rahu – Obsessions, material desires, illusions
Ketu – Moksha, detachment, past-life karma
🌟 Note: Unlike Western astrology, Rahu and Ketu (shadow planets) play a major karmic role in Vedic predictions.
2. Planets Represent Areas of Your Life
Each planet governs specific aspects of life. Their placement in your birth chart shows:
What kind of experiences you attract
How you express certain traits
Where you may face growth or challenges
🪐 Examples:
A strong Sun can indicate leadership potential.
A weak Saturn might cause delays in career or responsibilities.

3. Houses + Planets = Predictions
Your birth chart has 12 houses, each representing a life area (career, family, health, etc.).
Planets placed in or aspecting these houses affect them directly.

Jupiter in the 7th House = Blessings in marriage and partnerships.
Saturn in the 5th House = Delays in childbirth but deep learning through love and creativity.

4. Dasha System: Timing of Planetary Influence
One of Vedic astrology’s most accurate tools is the Vimshottari Dasha system—a timeline of planetary periods.
Each person is born under a planetary period (Mahadasha).
This Dasha and its sub-periods (Antardasha) control what karmas get activated and when.
⏳ Example: If you’re in Saturn Mahadasha, you may face serious responsibilities, delays, or spiritual breakthroughs depending on Saturn's placement in your chart.
🔄 The same planet may bring blessings to one person and difficulties to another—based on chart context.
5. Transits (Gochara): Current Planetary Movement
Aside from birth chart and dashas, planetary transits also influence your present.

When Saturn transits your Moon sign (Sade Sati), it may bring emotional challenges but deep growth.
When Jupiter transits a favorable house, it often brings luck, opportunities, and expansion.

6. Rahu and Ketu: The Karmic Nodes
Unlike visible planets, Rahu and Ketu are shadow points—the lunar nodes. They represent:
Rahu: What you’re hungry to learn or acquire in this life (desire, illusion)
Ketu: What you’ve already mastered in past lives (detachment, disinterest)
These two are crucial for karmic patterns and spiritual evolution.
⚠️ Rahu-Ketu eclipses, placements, and dasha periods often mark turning points—both material and spiritual.

Look for logical, ethical practitioners who explain the chart with clarity and compassion.
